Ben Affleck's Dunkin' Super Bowl commercial leads to limited-edition Funko Pop figures
View Date:2024-12-23 23:06:37
Now you can join Ben Affleck, Matt Damon and Tom Brady as a DunKing with your own track-suited Funko Pop doppelganger.
Dunkin' and Funko have teamed up to let you create your own Funko Pop toy wearing the orange and pink track suit the actors wore in the popular Super Bowl commercial. The toys go on sale today at Funko's website and will only be sold for the next seven days.
"Fans can now create their own personalized DunKings Pop and officially become a part of the band!” Chris Beijar, Dunkin’s vice president of integrated marketing communications, said in a statement.
Funko began letting customers create their own customized Pop! Yourself figurines last August. And earlier this month, Funko made available for only three days a figurine of Jason Kelce celebrating at the Kansas City Chiefs' playoff game in Buffalo.
"We want to do more of these connecting with cultural moments," Dave Bere, vice president of Funko's Pop! Yourself, told USA TODAY.

The DunKings Super Bowl commercial's cultural success
The Dunkin' ad starring Affleck, Damon and Brady – and Jennifer Lopez and Jack Harlow – struck a chord with viewers, despite the obvious musical missteps. The ad scored No. 2 on USA TODAY's 36th Ad Meter competition, which ranks the Super Bowl commercials every year. Affleck has made several commercials for Dunkin' and is a longtime supporter of the chain.
After the Super Bowl, a longer version of the ad was released, as was as a song. And when Dunkin' put the vivid track suits up for sale on the company website, the $60 outfits sold out in minutes.
“We had customers across the country wholeheartedly embrace every facet of our campaign, from the commercials and behind-the-scenes content to The DunKings merch drop and Spotify release of the full song,” Beijar said.
Some of the folks at Funko were texting during the Super Bowl after seeing the ad wondering if there was some type of collaboration the toy company could do with Dunkin'. "It just was so fun and it resonated," Bere said. "The outfits, the quirkiness, all of it. We just we thought it was a perfect fit. The messages starting right after (the ad aired)."
The next day, Funko folks began reaching out to Affleck and Damon's production company Artists Equity, which produced the ad. When they got on board, execs at Dunkin' were approached and they "wanted to move as quick as we did and loved the idea," Bere said.
How can I get a Dunkin' DunKings Funko Pop figure?
Now through March 1, you can order your customized limited-edition Pop! Yourself figure with the famous DunKings’ tracksuits and coffee accessories such as an iced coffee or box of donuts.
Priced at $30, each Pop! will come in a special Dunkin’ branded box. Order on Funko.com. The toy, which stands about 4½ inches tall, comes in a custom Dunkin' and Pop! Yourself box.
